Vaughan celebrates Carnoustie best

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan beat the conditions at Carnoustie to post a12 under par total in the Team Championship alongside pro partner Oliver Fisher.

He said: “This place usually beats me up, but I think it was the wind that helped me. I had my best ever round. It’s always a privilege to play Carnoustie.

“I’m playing my favourite course, Kingsbarns, tomorrow. You always feel you’ve got half a chance there as an amateur. You can whack it everywhere!”
