Tom can’t resist Kingsbarns

Schoolchildren thrilled to hear that nearby links is Englishman’s favourite course, and that he enjoys action movies and eating pizza, and would love to win this year’s Championship.

Tom Lewis told of his love for the nearby links when he visited Kingsbarns Primary School. “It’s my favourite course” was the Englishman’s glowing verdict, although he admitted to pupils that he dreads the stunning par-3 15th Hole.

Still only 25, Tom first played in the Alfred Dunhill Links six years ago. He explained that he was encouraged to pick up his clubs from the age of four by dad Bryan, a golf pro.

The Kingsbarns children put questions to Tom on a variety of subjects, establishing that he likes listening to sports and psychology audiobooks, watching action movies like Captain America, and eating pizza.

Tom revealed the secret pockets in his golf bag, where he keeps mittens, a woolly hat, waterproofs and nuts for snacking.

Everyone wished him luck for the tournament, which Tom confided is the one he would most like to win.

Meanwhile, former England footballer Jamie Redknapp visited St John’s High School in Dundee where he met the senior boys’ football team.

Jamie, who partners Rikard Karlberg at the Championship, said: “It’s always inspiring to see such dedication from so many people. I wish St John’s further success over this season and in years to come.”
