Local hero Drysdale shares early lead

Scotland’s David Drysdale had the home galleries cheering as he shot an excellent second round 67 at Kingsbarns to share the early lead in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

His round included two double bogeys, but he made up for that with five birdies, which put him on eight-under-par in the clubhouse and in good position at the halfway stage of the tournament.

Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat shared the lead with Drysdale after a sparking 66 on the Old Course which could have been even better but for a bogey five on the easy 18th finishing hole.

With less breezy conditions, the barrage of birdies from early starters is suggesting that this could be a day of very low scoring in the Championship.
