Hill and Smith are quick off the mark with birdie starts

ST ANDREWS, September 28, 2019 – Hill and Smith are quick off the mark with birdie starts

Scotland’s Calum Hill and England’s Jordan Smith made high speed starts to their bid for the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Smith was first out at Kingsbarns in the third round and made an instant impact. Starting at the 10th, he had three birdies in his first four holes to take his score to 15-under-par and to pass overnight leader Matthew Jordan, on 14-under, who was still to start at Carnoustie.

He was matched by local hero Hill, from Kirkcaldy, watched by his family and friends, who birdied the 3rd and 4th at Carnoustie.

Justin Rose, many people’s favourite to win, began with a birdie on the 1st hole on the Old Course, to keep his challenge going.
