Hatton’s 65 at Carnoustie sets the pace

Defending champion Tyrrell Hatton shot a brilliant 65 at Carnoustie to take the early lead on 11-under-par in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

On the most difficult of the three courses, Hatton played an almost faultless round which included seven birdies, including one at the very testing 18th, to give himself a chance to become the first ever winner of back-to-back Dunhill titles.

As Hatton rolled in the final birdie putt, one shot behind him, but still to finish their rounds are Ireland’s Paul Dunne and Tommy Fleetwood.
