Family honour at stake as McIlroys, Rahms and Kaymers tee up at St Andrews

ST ANDREWS, September 24, 2019 – Family honour at stake as McIlroys, Rahms and Kaymers tee up at St Andrews.

Three fathers and sons will tee off on Thursday hoping they can create a unique family moment.

Rory & Gerry McIlroy, Jon & Edorta Rahm and Martin & Horst Kaymer will be chasing their first win in the prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Team Championship.

The McIlroys and Kaymers have played together in the event before, but this is World No 6 Rahm’s first appearance. His father Edorta played a massive role in encouraging his son to play golf. All three start their challenge at Carnoustie.

McIlroy said: “It’s always a bonus to be able to play with my dad, to be able to walk around with him and to play these three great golf courses and spend some time with him. It means a lot to me.”

Among the crowd-pleasing pairs are Hollywood superstar Justin Timberlake & Justin Rose, singer songwriter Ronan Keating & Lee Westwood, film legend Bill Murray & D.A.Points and The Vamps star Brad Simpson & Tom Sloman, who has just turned pro after playing in the Walker Cup.

Record three-time winner Keiran McManus will be looking for another victory with a new partner in Lee Slattery, while his father J.P.McManus pairs up with Padraig Harrington again chasing a third victory.
