WITH just a month to go, Ernie Els is the latest big name star to confirm he is playing in next month’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Popular Ernie, a four-time Major Champion, finished runner-up in the Alfred Dunhill Links in 2001 and 2003 and third in 2006 and would love to win the first prize which has so far eluded him.
Also playing this year is Mark Boucher, the former South African cricketer, who holds the record for the most Test dismissals by a wicket-keeper. Els and Boucher are seen with England cricket star Kevin Pietersen and South African all-rounder Jacque Kallis at the bridge over the Swilken Burn during a practice round last year.
Pietersen says: “It’s a fantastic week, with a lot of good friends. I am totally appreciative of the golfers letting me into their space. I just enjoy being part of the event and playing there. This year I would like to contribute a little bit better to the team score. Making the cut would be amazing.”
