Dornan says Hatton’s a ‘joy to watch’

Actor Jamie Dornan was lost in admiration for the skills of his professional partner, defending champion Tyrrell Hatton.

The Fifty Shades star says the Englishman “was showing off” when shooting a second round 65 at Carnoustie.

Hatton is now the tournament leader alongside Lancastrian Tommy Fleetwood, whose course record 63 was another great second day Carnoustie highlight.

The Northern Irishman, playing in his fourth Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, added: “It was a joy to watch Tyrrell.

“I think he was showing off, actually, and he didn’t have a single bogey out there today! He also holed out two or three times with long putts of more than 15 feet or so for par, and then capped it all off with that long putt for a birdie on the 18th!

“It was just superb golf and it means we are also doing pretty well again in the team competition.”

Hatton and Dornan shot a first day 62 on the Old Course, and their team score of 65 at Carnoustie leaves them on 17 under par overall after two rounds.

Dornan finished in tied fourth place in last year’s Team Championship when again paired with Hatton.

So can he get to the final day for the second year running alongside Hatton, by finishing inside the top 20 teams when the cut is made at the end of the third round? “Part of me says it would be best not to have to play another day’s golf!” he joked.
