Bjerregaard’s 66 gives him real chance to defend his title

ST ANDREWS, September 28, 2019 – Bjerregaard’s 66 gives him real chance to defend his title.

Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard came alive at St Andrews with an excellent third round six-under-par 66 on the Old Course to give himself a real chance of defending his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

He brought back memories of his brilliant final round on the Old Course last year with seven birdies, although he dropped a shot at the 17th Road Hole.

Following his victory last year, Lucas had a famous win over Tiger Woods in the quarter-final of the WGC-Dell Matchplay in February and had a hole-in-one in the US PGA Championship.

Bjerregaard said: “Winning the Alfred Dunhill Links last year was one of the biggest weeks I’ve had in my career. It’s really taken my career to the next step.

As he finished he was just one shot behind early leader in the clubhouse England’s Jordan Smith, who shot a 68 at Kingsbarns to be 17-under-par for the tournament.
