Birdies galore as Thai star takes early lead

Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat was quick out of the blocks as the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship got under way. In a sparking start on the Old Course he shot five birdies in his first nine holes to take the outright early lead on seven-under-par.

Scotland’s David Drysdale had the home galleries cheering as he began his second round with two birdies in six holes at Kingsbarns to reach five-under-par, along with Welshman Bradley Dredge.

Overnight leaders Paul Dunne and Nicolas Colsaerts are both yet to start.

With less breezy conditions, the barrage of birdies from early starters is suggesting that this could be a day of very low scoring in the Championship.
