Hollywood’s Bill Murray Joins A Super Group Of Music Stars At The 25th Dunhill Links

Hollywood legend Bill Murray and a blue chip group of celebrities from the worlds of music and sport will be coming together next month to partner a world-class field of golf professionals in the 25th Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The event, a celebration of Links golf at its finest, is staged from October 1-4 over three of the most famous Links courses in the world – the Old Course St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

Bill Murray, much loved by golf fans for his role as wacky greenkeeper Carl in the film Caddyshack, is a very good golfer in his own right and will be playing in the Dunhill Links Team Championship for the 11th time.

His other big screen highlights have endeared him to millions of enthusiasts, including Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day and a superb performance in the 2003 film Lost in Translation which won him a Golden Globe. More recently he has engaged a new generation with The French Dispatch, On the Rocks and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

A super group of global music celebrities will be hoping to hit the high notes on the golf course, including singer-songwriter Ronan Keating, Keane’s Tom Chaplin, Linkin Park’s Dave Farrell, making his tenth appearance, and US rock legend Huey Lewis, who played in the first Dunhill Links back in 2001.

The Alfred Dunhill Links incorporates two separate competitions - an individual professional event for the world's leading golfers and the Team Championship in which the professionals are paired with the amateurs, creating a unique atmosphere and camaraderie.

Olympic rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave will have played in all 25 Alfred Dunhill Links Championships when he tees off in October, and he will be joining other famous sportsmen including 11-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater, England cricketer Kevin Pietersen, also making his tenth appearance, Dutch football’s Ruud Gullit, and champion jump jockey Sir Tony (A.P.) McCoy.

Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of wearable technology company WHOOP, entrepreneur Peter Jones, star of Dragons Den, and media celebrity Piers Morgan are also playing.

I really want to congratulate Alfred Dunhill on creating this wonderful event which has been such a marvellous sporting occasion for 25 years now. We all enjoy the golf, the fun and the camaraderie, but we all know behind the scenes there is so much work going on quietly to raise money for charity through the Alfred Dunhill Links Foundation.”
