Former Springbok flanker, he played in 19 Tests, scoring five tries.
He played most famously in the 1980 Springbok team which beat Bill Beaumont’s British Lions, starting in all four games and scoring a try in each of the first two matches.
In 1985 he moved to English rugby league club Wigan.
This is his 14th appearance.
