Born and bred in Aberdeen, he has been playing golf since the age of three. Before turning professional, became the first amateur golfer to be officially ranked World Number One when The R&A released the first rankings in 2007. Won twice on the Challenge Tour before graduating at the end of 2008. Has won three times on the European Tour, the most recent at the 2015 Trophée Hassan II in Morocco, while a 26th place finish in the 2012 Race to Dubai is his career-high. Away from golf, he has studied at the University of Stirling after spending time in Texas on a golf scholarship, graduating with a BA Hons in Marketing and Sports Studies.
